Back to Genesis

ICR’s publications show that the literal Genesis record of supernatural creation is the foundation of the true gospel, the true doctrine of Christ, true evangelism, genuine saving faith, and of all the key aspects of biblical Christianity. True science, true education, the true institution of marriage and family—and even our original American government—also were based on Genesis creationism.

All truth in every area of life finds its beginning in the Genesis record of creation and the other events of primeval history. That is why God placed it first in the Bible. One vital goal here at ICR has always been to urge Christians—and then others—to get back to Genesis as the foundation of foundations, to be inaugurated, as God proposed, in every realm of our lives.

But that is not all. Genesis is the foundation, but the foundation is not the complete structure. The Lord Jesus Christ is our Creator, but He has also become our Redeemer and will one day be acknowledged by the entire world as King of kings and Lord of lords. That must be our ultimate goal—to win the world and all its systems back to God, in Christ. We must diligently try not only to win the lost to Christ but also to bring the world itself back to God. We must try not only to win individual scientists and educators to Christ, but also to win science itself, and education itself, to Christ. (Henry M. Morris, Ph.D.)

How Is the Power of Faith Active and Dynamic?

3 Motivating Truths You Should Know About the Power of Faith

When God grants the gift of faith that enables us at the point of salvation (Ephesians 2:8), it should not be seen as a static power that merely resides in our minds but rather an empowerment that is expected to grow into a dynamic and demonstrable “divine nature” (2 Peter 1:4-9). In this summary post, […]

How Is the Power of Faith Active and Dynamic

The Creator and Conservation

The LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done. While the earth remaineth, seed-time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. (Genesis 8:21-22)

Seldom do we even consider that the very continued existence of the earth is by the Creator’s supernatural protection and oversight. Much less do we seek for evidence of that providential care. No, more often we simply accept that “things” are working just fine, or we laud “nature” for its implied power to maintain the status quo.

From a scientific perspective, God provides profound insight in the covenant to Noah cited above.

The Creator Himself will take on the responsibility to conserve—to preserve the designed processes of His creation so that it (the planet and its various life forms) will continue to function with sufficient efficiency to maintain operational effectiveness. Fundamentally, this tells us that the conservative processes that we see operating all around us are overseen, supernaturally and providentially, by the very Creator who brought them into existence in the first place (Isaiah 46:10-11).

Believers—who are not only the beneficiaries of God’s human creation with the mandate of dominion over the earth, but are also the twice-born created after God “in righteousness and true holiness” (Ephesians 4:24)—should surely be able to uncover the evidence of God’s sovereign design that will bring glory to the Creator rather than aggrandizing the faceless and impotent god of evolutionary randomness.
