The Remarkable Book of Job

Discipleship University at First Baptist Dallas

January 29: The Great Experiment of Job

Unique to the Book of Job is the “wager” between the Creator and Satan. Nowhere else in Scripture are we given the insight of the apparent freedom that Satan has “roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.” The sovereign power of God is made clear as well, and the question about “pain and suffering” is never answered.

Discipleship University at First Baptist Dallas: The Remarkable Book of Job

Far from being an engaging fable, the account of Job in the Bible is one of the most historically and scientifically accurate records of the ancient world. Abraham was settling into Canaan, Job was being tested by none other than God and Lucifer themselves, and the disrupting of the Tower of Babel was barely last year’s news. The Ice Age was beginning to tighten its grip on both hemispheres of the planet and dinosaurs (yes, dinosaurs) roamed the earth. Ur of the Chaldees was a burgeoning city of 250,000, and the “Land of Uz” where Job lived was the major trade center between Egypt and Syria.

The Institute for Creation Research will add fascinating insights with new million-dollar DVDs on dinosaurs and wonderful insights into the Creator’s direct dialogue with Job about the universe that He created. Join Dr. Henry Morris in Truett Chapel at First Baptist Dallas for this fascinating study. Topics include:

  • The Remarkable Book
  • The Primeval History
  • The Scientific Insights
  • The Great Experiment
  • The Miserable Comforters
  • The Healing Message
  • The Providential Care
  • The Greatest Animals
  • The Patience of Job
  • The Lessons of Eternity

This free weekly course will be on Sunday evenings in Truett Chapel starting January 8 and finishing on March 26.

How to Study the Book of Job

A Devotional and Study Guide for the Book of Job

The book of Job is one of the oldest ever recorded. Traditionally ascribed to Moses—who edited the book of Genesis—it may well have been authored by Job himself. There are internal references and allusions to the creation, specific judgments given at the Fall of Man, references to the great Flood of Noah’s day, and events […]

January 22: The Scientific Insights of Job

The knowledge of these men about the basic functions of our planet does not surface again until well into the 18th century after Christ.  Many of the principles of science are clearly understood by these men, long before modern man “discovered” them.
